JAMES KEIDEL  (jkeidel@kwcllp.com)

James Keidel started his legal career in the mid-1980's working as an in-house attorney for a major life insurance company. After several years of handling life insurance related litigation, he joined Lustig & Brown, LLP in 1990 and at that time helped establish the firm's New York City office. In 1999 he assisted the firm in establishing a Connecticut office.

Since 1990 Jim has exclusively handled professional liability claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers.  In 1999 Jim became a managing partner of the law firm of Lustig & Brown, heading up the firm's professional liability practice.

 

Jim is a frequent author and lecturer on the subject of E & O liability prevention for insurance agents and brokers. He has been a licensed continuing education instructor by the Insurance Departments in all 50 states.

Jim has spent his entire legal career handling large exposure complex lawsuits involving claims against insurance agents and brokers, insurance coverage litigation and counseling insurance agents and brokers on E&O loss prevention techniques. 

 

Since 2003 Jim has been appointed to the Insurance and Risk Management Committee for the Town of Ridgefield Connecticut, which provides counsel and guidance to the Board of Selectmen on insurance and loss control issues. 


Loss Control Experience:

Jim has presented the annual E&O loss control seminar to the members of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York (IIABNY) for over fourteen years. In addition, he frequently presents private E&O seminars and conducts E & O audits at insurance agencies and brokerages across the country. He also spends a great deal of time counseling agencies and brokerages concerning E & O loss control practices and procedures.

CHRISTOPHER WELDON  (cweldon@kwcllp.com)

Christopher Weldon started his legal career in 1990 working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney. Following his departure from the Westchester County District Attorney's Office in 1992, Chris continued to be actively involved in litigation and began his pursuit of handling malpractice lawsuits and other types of litigated actions, from personal injury through complicated contract and corporate matters. In 1999, Chris joined Lustig & Brown, LLP and at that time helped establish the firm's Connecticut office with partner James Keidel.

Since 1999, Chris has primarily handled professional liability claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers. In addition, Chris has handled a myriad of other matters ranging from insurance coverage disputes, personal injury lawsuits and general commercial litigation. In December 2001, Chris became the resident partner for the Connecticut office of Lustig & Brown, and assisted in the management responsibility of that office. Chris has focused his practice in New York and Connecticut but has been admitted pro hoc vice in a number of states and U.S. Territories. Chris also has and continues to author and lecture on the subject of E&O liability prevention for insurance agents and brokers. He is licensed as a continuing education instructor by the Insurance Departments in a number of states.

STEPHEN CUNNINGHAM  (scunningham@kwcllp.com)

Stephen Cunningham is an experienced trial attorney who has tried cases in Kings, New York, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties as well as in the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York and District Court in Clinton, Iowa.

Steve began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, Brooklyn, New York in 1986.  From 1990 to 1995, Steve was an associate trial attorney with the New York City firm of Siff, Rosen, P.C. specializing in railroad and environmental coverage litigation.  Steve joined Lustig & Brown in 1995.  Since 1995 Steve has devoted his career to handling professional liability claims and lawsuits on behalf of insurance agents and brokers.  He is licensed as a continuing education instructor by the New York State Insurance Department.

Steve was a Peace Corps volunteer in Botswana, Africa from 1980 to 1983.
